Background

The usual approach to 3D stereo reconstruction is to reconstruct the 3D coordinates of a number of features. Using calibrated cameras this is quite straightforward. If you are interested in dense reconstructions using two calibrated video cameras, in real time, various optimizations are necessary. The video illustrates the system developed by Francois Singels.
